ATC Cards are a fun way to try a small bit of art!

 Each Artist Trading Card (ATC) is like a small art journal page. They are sized at 2.5x3.5", the same size as a typical playing card. Brushing on some gesso on each side, makes a playing card a great surface to adhere a chosen pattern to in order to create a small work of art, complete with an embellishment and phrase! They can be as simple or as complex as you'd like and are fun to swap with other artists!

I recently became a member of a fun new Facebook Group called: Maremi's Creative Cafe, where Ms. Marta Lapkowski, the originator, gives us a new prompt each week to inspire us to create a small 2.5x3.5" ATC or anything else we want to create and share. I've become familiar with Marta and her helpful videos over the past year. She focuses on easy to understand topics that delve into the realm of mixed media and leave you madly wanting to create mixed media art pieces of all shapes and sizes!

In her newly established group of about 6,000 people, she also urges us to chat, relax and share many different types of art and life experiences. Ladies have posted about their craft rooms, art supplies, fear of failure, and many other subjects. The group and prompts started in January 2017 and we receive (and sometimes participate in selecting) one prompt per week, in alphabetic order. So far, they've been: Art, Bubbles, Coffee, Dragonfly, Eclipse, Folk, Gears, Hummingbird Hearts, Imagination, and Journey. I've completed A, B, C, D, E, and G and am working on F and H now.

    I love this concept. I've never really done ATCs but do enjoy working in miniature on ICAD so maybe this it the right time for me to look at this. Off now to see the FB page! Thanks so much for this.

    Thank you so much for this link. I have now joined the group and am inspired every time I pop in to the cafe.
    For a novice like me, an ATC is a great starting place. Often a large canvas can be quite daunting. An ATC is perfect for trying out new ideas, methods or products. If you like the result you can then commit to a larger project.
